RBW Photometry Lab

Designed for Performance

Good design and performance should move together. Engineered to perform, our luminaires reduces the reliance on utilitarian lighting and lets design carry the space. That’s why we built a dedicated photometry lab at our RBW Factory in Kingston, New York, to give every fixture a quantified foundation of performance. In this controlled environment, we can now characterize light in its many qualities: lumen output, directionality, color rendering, CCT, efficacy and more. This in-house lab will help shape our work from the first prototype to the final product.

Innovation at Speed

Imagine stepping into a silent black room built for one purpose: to study light in its purest form. Every surface is treated in matte black, from the walls to dropped carpet, nothing distracts and nothing reflects. We created this space at our RBW Factory as a place where performance and design develop side by side. Inside, the bleeding edge of available photometric equipment captures readings with scientific precision, translating each luminaire into data that informs design. This space reflects our commitment to a higher quality of light where aesthetics and performance share equal standing.

Higher Lumen Output Options

Crisp® marks its 10-year anniversary with a new chapter: the introduction of High-Output Crisp®, the first in a series. Alongside sister collections Ripple®, Dimple®, and Phase, Crisp® now offers greater lumen output while maintaining the iconic design that has defined it for the past decade. High-Output delivers a 43–241% increase in delivered lumens depending on glass finish, bringing RBW’s most trusted collections into large volumes, tall ceilings, and demanding environments with precision-calibrated performance. This opens new opportunities for projects that call for both beauty and power.
